Salvatore Torrisi is Professor of Economics and Management at the University of Bologna where he coordinates a course in the Economics and Management of Innovation for the Doctoral Program in Management. He is a Research Associate of CESPRI/KITeS, Bocconi University of Milan.

He graduated from Bocconi University in Italy (Major: Economics) and obtained a PhD from the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex in the UK.

His research focuses on the impact of technology on firms' performance, the economic value of patents and the models of commercialisation of technological assets.

He has been responsible for the CESPRI-Bocconi team of the "Study on the effects of allowing patent claims for computer-implemented inventions", EC-DG IS (main contractor: MERIT, University of Maastricht, NL) and is currently participating in two research projects sponsored by the EC (Cooperation Work Programme Theme 8 7FP): The changing nature of internationalization of innovation in Europe: impact on firms and the implications for innovation policy in the EU(GlobInn), (coordinator: SPRU- University of Sussex, UK) and S&T indicators combining patent data and surveys: empirical models and policy analyses (InnoS&T) (coordinator: Bocconi University, Milan). He is member of the Editorial Board of the European Management Review.
