Events

This page reports information about the main scientific events organized by KITeS faculty. The links on the menu on the left will direct you to the pages of workshops, conferences and summer schools currently being organized or held in the recent past.

KITeS organize different types of regular events:

1. Seminars - If you wish to read more about KITeS Seminar Series (KiSS) or KITeS Brown Bag Seminars, please follow this link or contact Paola Cillo: paola.cillo@unibocconi.it

2. Thematic Workshops - KITeS regularly organize workshops on specific issues, inviting leading scholars to present their work and discuss their results. The links on the left banner lead to information about some of these events. Our last workshop (June 3, 2010) focused on 'The Emergence of Industries and the Implications for Firm Strategy'. Ashish Arora (Duke), Sarah Kaplan (Rotman School of Management) and Anita McGahan (Rotman School of Management) presented their ongoing work.

3. Crossroads Workshops - two scholars are invited to discuss different viewpoints on the same issue. For example, on April 26 Claudio Panico (Bocconi University) and Luigi Marengo (S. Anna School of Advanced Studies) lead a discussion about 'Incentives vs. Learning Perspectives on Corporate Govenrance'. These workshops are short and highly interactive. They are meant to be thought provoking and confrontational. The invited speakers present short 'statements' about the state of the art, achievements and problems of their specific areas of expertise (and are meant to criticize the opponents'). The theme for the next 'Crossroads Workshop' is 'Why do firms differ, and how does it matter?'. Speakers will be Gianmarco Ottaviano (KITeS, Bocconi University) and Luigi Orsenigo (KITeS and University of Brescia). Date: September 30 2010, 10.30-12.30, Room TBA

4. KITeS' Annual Research Fair - once per year, all KITeS' researchers prepare posters to show off their key results, questions, doubts and issues. The poster session is open to all. It lasts about three hours, during which food and drinks are served. It is meant to create a relaxed environment in which all learn about everybody else's activities. The next Fair will happen toward the end of the year. Information will be posted here.
